As a minor, his mother, Allyson Casalegno, served as his manager while he traveled for work and auditions. Seeking greater opportunities, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he landed his first film role at the age of eleven. Casalegno went on to play various characters, such as young Shem in Noah (2014), young Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries (2015), and Trevor Strand in the first season of Walker (2021).
According to Deadline, in July 2021, Casalegno was cast as Jeremiah Fisher, one of the main characters in the Amazon Prime television series based on Jenny Han's coming-of-age novel, The Summer I Turned Pretty. The series is set to premiere on June 17, 2022, and Amazon renewed it for a second season before the first season even aired, though a release date has not been announced. Casalegno will reprise his role as the younger Fisher brother, Jeremiah, who is one of the main love interests for Belly, along with Conrad.
