Hunter Parrish's journey in showbiz began when he caught the attention of director Peter Sklar at a New York showcase. This led to professional representation and roles in TV shows and the 2004 movie Sleepover.
One of Parrish's big breaks came in 2005 when he starred in the popular Showtime series Weeds, which ran for eight seasons until 2012. He played Silas, a key character.
After finishing the fourth season of Weeds, Parrish tried Broadway. He joined the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening in New York. His Broadway debut was on August 11, 2008, playing the lead role of Melchior Gabor, earning critical acclaim. He continued in that role until January 18, 2009. Two and a half years later, he returned to Broadway as Jesus in the 2011 revival of Godspell, which began on October 13, 2011. He left to film the final season of Weeds on April 15, 2012.
