Martin Henderson, born on October 8, 1974, is a New Zealand actor who has become well known for his roles on various American TV shows, including his portrayal of Dr. Ben Keeton on the medical drama series Off the Map (2011), his portrayal of Dr. Nathan Riggs on Grey's Anatomy (2015-2017), and his current role as Jack Sheridan on the Netflix romantic drama Virgin River.
He is also recognized for his performance as Noah Clay in the 2002 horror film The Ring. In New Zealand, Henderson is known for his teenage role as Stuart Neilson on the soap opera Shortland Street, where he appeared from 1992 to 1995.

Martin Henderson started his acting career in New Zealand, playing the role of Stuart Neilson in the soap opera Shortland Street from 1992 to 1995. He then continued to act in Australian films and TV shows, such as Echo Point and Home and Away, before moving to the US in 1997 to pursue a career in Hollywood. He trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City and started appearing in films and TV shows.
In 1999, Martin was nominated for an AACTA award for his performance in the film Kick. In 2001, he appeared in the war film Windtalkers and then starred in the horror film The Ring in 2002. He went on to star in several other films such as Perfect Opposites, Torque, Bride and Prejudice, Little Fish and more. In 2006, Martin received positive reviews for his performance in the theatre production of Fool for Love in London's West End.
He was initially set to star in the TV series adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith but it was not picked up by any network. He appeared in the movie Flyboys, a commercial for the 2008 Cadillac CTS, and in an episode of House. In 2010, he was cast in Shonda Rhimes' TV series Off the Map. He also appeared in Secrets & Lies, The Red Road, and Everest. In 2015, he joined the cast of Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Nathan Riggs and remained on the show until 2017.
Since 2019, Martin has been playing the role of Jack Sheridan in the Netflix series Virgin River which has been renewed for two more seasons. He also starred in the 2022 A24 horror film X as Wayne Gilroy.
