2022 UTME: Candidates Complain Over Missing English Texts

Candidates who sat for the ongoing 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have complained over incomplete texts in the English Language paper.

The candidates, who had written in the earlier batch, said the comprehension passage in the paper was missing, but only the question and answer options were in the question paper.

A candidate, Tahila Nwosu from JC Best School, Life Camp, Abuja, said there was no comprehension passage but questions were asked on the basis of the non-existent passage.

“We complained, but the supervisor said there was nothing they could do; so some of us left it like that. But others just ticked any answer instead of leaving it blank,” she said.

She, however, said there were no issues in other subjects, adding that few people experienced challenges with their computers, which she said was later resolved.

Another student from NTIC CBT centre, Radeeyah Aminu, confirmed the missing comprehension texts, saying, “There was no comprehension, only the questions and answers, so we just picked the answers randomly.”

In a statement yesterday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) noted that a total of 1, 761, 333 who registered for this year’s UTME would be taking the exams across 755 computer-based centres between May 6 and 16.
