It takes a lot of skill to escape from prison. Security features found in many prisons include CCTV, motion detectors, barred windows, high walls, spiked metal, electric fencing, and armed watchmen. Despite these and other obstacles, some prisoners will ignore the limitations on their creativity and thinking and will look for any available exit.

Since far before the rise of Western criminals in the nineteenth century, jail breakouts have been a feature of our everyday culture. 1. Jack Sheppard

In 18th-century London, Jack Sheppard achieved almost superstar status for his numerous jailbreaks. Even though he had been a craftsmen apprentice, he came to the conclusion in 1723 that living a life of crime was a truly lucrative way to make ends meet. He eluded capture several times in 1724.

He escaped from a jail aboard a confiscated chopper on October 12, 2001. By 1943, rumors that the Nazis planned to dismantle the camps and execute all of the prisoners had begun to circulate. Detainees at Sobibor Leon Feldhendler and Alexander Pechersky came to the conclusion that dying while attempting to flee was preferable to dying in a gas chamber.

The plan was for each prisoner to attack their double, murder the SS officers, and then hope that the Ukrainian gatekeepers would leave. Nine SS officers and two watchmen were killed on October 14, 1943, as a result of disengagement. Sadly, a Ukrainian watchman discovered one of the Germans who had died and issued the warning.

10. Frank Abagnale
