Over the past 50 years of the Open Era, there have been a lot of great women players, and this doesn't even take into account the great players from the early 20th century. Over the years, fitness regimens, nutrition, and racket technology have all evolved to make the task even more challenging.
The selection of the top 10 female tennis players was no easier than the selection of the top 10 richest tennis players.

10. Martina Hingis and Evonne Goolagong
Thest two are joined at 10th on the list. Hingis retired in 2017 with five Grand Slam victories, ending a career that spanned two decades and resulted in 45 titles won.

Evonne Goolagong is often overlooked, but she won 68 titles in her career, including seven Grand Slams, but she never won the US Open.
9. Justine Henin
Despite earning over $20 million during her career and being regarded as a powerful player, Justine Henin was unable to win the renowned Wimbledon tournament. However, in 2003, she became the world's number one.
8. Venus Williams
She is one half of the famous Williams sisters. Throughout her career, Venus has been in her sister's shadow. Despite this, she has been one of the best. She has won seven Grand Slam titles, and if it weren't for Serena, she could have won a lot more. In 2002, she overtook her sister as the world's number one.
7. Billie Jean King
She was a prolific Californian who won 129 titles, half of which came at Wimbledon. She also won 12 Grand Slams. For the better part of a decade, women's tennis was dominated by Billie Jean King.
6. Monica Seles
When a fan ran on while Monica Seles was fatally stabbed on the court in 1993, it had a negative impact on her career.
Despite the fact that she never recovered from the injury, she went on to win an impressive nine Grand Slam titles.
5. Chris Evert
Chris Evert deserves a spot on this list because she won 18 Grand Slams and reached a record 34 finals. She also showed us how good she was by winning every major at least twice.

Margaret Court is widely regarded as the greatest female tennis player of all time.
She has won a record 24 Grand Slam tournaments and 192 career titles, including 19 victories in doubles and 19 victories in mixed doubles.
3. Martina Navratilova
She has won 59 Grand Slam titles, including 18 singles titles, and holds the record for most Open Era titles won in a career with 167. She is well-known for bringing the big serve and volley back to women's tennis.
2. Steffi Graf
She won 22 Grand Slam titles, winning four in Australia, six in France, seven in England, and five in the United States. Her victories were evenly distributed across all surfaces. She has 107 career titles, but she just doesn't make this list.

With 23 Grand Slam titles and just shy of $100 million in prize money, Serena Williams is widely regarded as the greatest female tennis player ever. Her significant victories span the best two decades, demonstrating her longevity. And of course placed on one of the top 10 richest tennis players.
