Christopher Cooper is an American actor famous for roles in Hollywood films like American Beauty (1999), October Sky (1999), and The Bourne Identity (2002). He also starred in the acclaimed miniseries Lonesome Dove (1989).

Cooper won awards for Best Supporting Actor in Adaptation (2002). He played FBI agent Robert Hanssen in Breach (2007) and appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) as Norman Osborn. He portrayed Al Templeton in 11.22.63 (2016) and often worked with director John Sayles.

He grew up near Kansas City, spent summers on a cattle ranch, and served in the Coast Guard Reserve. Cooper studied acting at the University of Missouri, where he overcame shyness. He moved to New York City in 1976, lived with aspiring actors, and did various jobs. He began his acting career on stage.

Cooper's London debut was in Sweet Bird of Youth (1985).
