Since February 1987, Christopher Oghenebrorie Okotie has served as the pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries, a Pentecostal congregation located in Lagos, Nigeria.
Despite achieving success as a popular pop musician in the 1980s, Okotie decided to leave singing for preaching and subsequently made abundant wealth.
By the end of the decade, he embraced the bible and founded the Household of God Church, which is one of Nigeria's most flamboyant congregations. Currently, the church has around 5,000 members, mainly comprising Nollywood celebrities, musicians, and society people.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Chris Okotie is also active in politics. He founded and funded the Fresh Party, which he used to contest and lose the Nigerian presidential elections for a second time in 2007. Okotie is an avid automobile enthusiast, and he owns several cars, including a Mercedes S600, Hummer, and Porsche.

Okotie initially contested for the presidency as a member of the Justice Party (JP), which was headed by Ralph Obiorah, after he was eliminated from the National Democratic Party (NDP) primaries.
In May 2003, he was defeated by Olusegun Obasanjo. He formed his own political party, the Fresh Democratic Party (FRESH), and ran for the presidency again in 2007, but was unsuccessful in defeating Umaru Yar'Adua in the May 2007 elections.
Okotie made another attempt in 2011 but was unsuccessful in his bid to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan.
