Cipha Sounds, of Puerto Rican descent, is a well-known American DJ, comedian, and radio/TV personality. His primary areas of expertise are DJing and comedy.
He started his career as a DJ in 1996 by interning for Flip Squad in New York.
Afterwards, he began working as an opening DJ for Flip Squad member DJ Riz. He went on to tour with Nicki Minaj and was then invited to join Hot 97's Big Dawg Pitbulls crew.

Career as Radio Personality
In 1996, Sounds began his career as an intern with Wildman Steve and DJ Riz of New York's Flip Squad.
Riz later invited Sounds to DJ at clubs with him as an opening act, which led to him being recruited by Lil' Kim to go on tour with her for a year and a half.
After returning to the US, Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 invited Sounds to join his crew, and he became a mix show DJ on Flex's evening show.
He eventually got his own show called Cipha Saturdays, and later hosted The Cipha Sounds Effect on Sirius Satellite Radio's Shade 45 channel with Angela Yee, DJ Wonder, and Emoticon Farragut Foster. Sounds started The Juan Epstein Podcast before moving on to The Cipha/Rosenberg Experience, which aired every Sunday on Hot 97.
The show was later moved to weekdays and grew to a five-hour slot before Cipha was fired from the station. He had worked with Hot 97 for over 17 years. Cipha later signed with ROC Nation in 2015. Sounds is known for being the first to play Rihanna, Rick Ross, and other artists on NYC Radio.
