Throughout his career, he has taken on various roles in several notable productions. He replaced Philip Bolden as Kevin Kingston-Persons in the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet? and portrayed Flint in the ABC superhero drama series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Stewart kickstarted his career in 2010 by portraying Kevin Kingston in the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet?. His performance earned him the Young Artists Award for Best Supporting Young Actor in a Comedy or Drama in March 2011. Stewart is also recognized for his portrayal of Marcus Barnes in the Sesame Workshop comedy sitcom, The Electric Company, which aired on PBS Kids Go! in 2011.
In January 2012, Coy's father, Derek Stewart, wrote a non-fiction book titled The Unlikely Journey, chronicling Coy's path to success in the entertainment industry.
Stewart has appeared in several TV series, including Bella and the Bulldogs as Troy Dixon, and in the 2016 comedy horror web series, WTH: Welcome to Howler, as Xavier.
