Biography
Gary Cherone is a famous American rock singer and songwriter. He's famous for being the lead singer of two rock bands: Extreme and Van Halen. He's also done some solo work. In 2007, he got back together with Extreme.
Cherone grew up in Malden, Massachusetts, and went to Malden High School. He's one of five brothers and the younger twin of Greg Cherone.
When he was a teenager, Cherone started singing in local bands. He looked up to rock singers like Roger Daltrey from The Who, Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, and Freddie Mercury from Queen. In 1979, Cherone, his friend Paul Geary (the drummer), and guitarist Matt McKay started a rock band called Adrenalin. They later changed the name to The Dream in 1981 and recorded a six-song EP.
A few years down the line, Cherone and The Dream appeared in a music video on early MTV.

The video was part of the show Basement Tapes, where unsigned artists' videos were shown, and people could vote for their favorites.
