Jennifer Jane Saunders, born on July 6, 1958, is an English actress, comedian, and writer.

Growing up in an armed forces family, she changed schools often. She attended boarding schools until 18 and then St Paul's Girls' School in London. After a year as an au pair in Italy, she studied drama at Central School of Speech and Drama, where she met Dawn French.
Though they initially clashed, French and Saunders became flatmates and performed together after college. They created a double-act called The Menopause Sisters. Despite early struggles, their determination led to success.
