Cavallo was a member of both Melbourne Victory FC Youth and Melbourne City FC Youth teams. Melbourne City announced on 15 April 2019 that he would be leaving the club after the 2018-19 season when his contract expired.
Subsequently, on 24 June 2019, Cavallo signed with Western United, a new A-League team, in preparation for their debut season. In his first game for Western United on 3 January 2020, he came on as a substitute and earned a penalty, which was converted by Besart Berisha, after being fouled by former teammate Dean Bouzanis in a 3-2 loss against Melbourne City.

On 10 February 2021, Western United announced that Cavallo was departing the club to pursue more playing opportunities with another A-League team.
Soon after, on 18 February 2021, he signed a short-term contract with Adelaide United. After an impressive performance during the 2020-21 A-League season, in which he started 15 games and made 18 appearances, he was awarded Adelaide United's A-League Rising Star award. On 11 May, he signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
