Marquis Deon Grissom is an American former professional baseball center fielder.
He was in teams like Expos, Braves, Indians, Brewers, Dodgers, Giants. With Expos, he led NL in stolen bases, played All-Star Game, and won Gold Glove Awards. He won the 1995 World Series with Braves.
He grew up in Georgia, his dad built a house while working at the Ford plant. As a kid, he hit a police car, but the officer let it go if he joined the youth baseball team. He went to Lakeshore High School and got college offers for baseball, football, and track. Drafted by Reds, chose college baseball.
Grissom played at Florida A&M University, excelled in 1988, and joined the MEAC Hall of Fame in 2014. He retired on March 28, 2006, after realizing he prepared more than played. In 2011, he got four Hall of Fame votes.
