William Hayward Wilson, nicknamed Mookie, played baseball for the Mets and Blue Jays.
He's famed for hitting the ball under Buckner's legs in the 1986 World Series. Mookie, a switch hitter, won Mets fans' hearts with his speed and positivity in the 80s. He joined Mets Hall of Fame in 1996.
As a child, he got the nickname Mookie. In high school, he played for Red Raiders team. He was the Mets' first base coach from 1996–2002. Managed Kingsport Mets in 2003-2004, and Brooklyn Cyclones in 2005.
