Michael Keller Ditka, who was born Michael Dyczko on October 18, 1939, is a retired American football player, coach, and commentator. He played as a tight end for the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL). Throughout his career, he was selected to five Pro Bowls, named a six-time All-Pro tight end, and awarded the UPI NFL Rookie of the Year in 1961. Additionally, he was a member of both the College and the Pro Football Halls of Fame, as well as being named to the NFL's 75th- and 100th-Anniversary All-Time Teams.

Ditka achieved considerable success in the NFL, winning the NFL championship with the Bears in 1963 and three Super Bowls, including playing on the Cowboys' Super Bowl VI team, winning as an assistant coach for the Cowboys in Super Bowl XII, and coaching the Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX. He was also named the NFL Coach of the Year twice by both the AP and UPI in 1985 and 1988 when he was the head coach of the Bears. Ditka served as the head coach for the New Orleans Saints from 1997 to 1999.

Ditka's achievements in the NFL are noteworthy, as he is one of only two individuals to have won an NFL title as a player, an assistant coach, and a head coach.

Furthermore, he, Tom Flores, Gary Kubiak, and Doug Pederson are the only people in modern NFL history to win a championship as head coach of a team for which they previously played.
