Derek Tyler Carter is a famous American musician, singer, and songwriter. He's best known for his role as the lead singer in the metalcore band Issues, which he co-founded.
Carter began his music career as a drummer in local Atlanta bands. He later joined the metalcore group Woe, Is Me, and they released their first album, Number[s], in 2010. However, he left the band the next year.
He formed Issues with former Woe, Is Me members, including vocalist Michael Bohn. They released their debut EP, Black Diamonds, in 2012, followed by the single Hooligans.
In 2014, Issues achieved success with their self-titled debut album, reaching number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200. They also released the EP Diamond Dreams in the same year.

Their second album, Headspace, came out in 2016, reaching number 20 on the US Billboard 200. Bohn left the band in 2018, leaving Carter as the sole vocalist.
In 2019, Carter released his own studio album, Moonshine, and two EPs: Leave Your Love in 2015 and Moonshine Acoustic in 2020.
He's collaborated with various artists and groups like blackbear, MAX, Jamie's Elsewhere, Breathe Carolina, Hands Like Houses, Slaves, and ONE OK ROCK. He also did covers with Luke Holland, including Paramore's Ain't It Fun in 2014, Years & Years' King in 2015, and Chris Brown's Fine China in 2013.
In 2020, Carter co-founded the duo Emerald Royce with Chris Linck from Attila.
