Derek Jones was a popular American guitarist. He was best known for playing guitar in the band Falling in Reverse and used to play for A Smile From the Trenches before 2010.
At first, he played the saxophone but later switched to the guitar. He liked bands like Manowar, Blink-182, and Slipknot.
When he was a teenager, he formed some local bands, but they only played at small shows.
Then, when he turned 19, he went on his first tour, which was a big step in his music career.

Career
In 2007, Derek joined the band called A Smile from the Trenches. They released an EP on June 29, 2007. The band played at the Vans Warped Tour that same year.
On October 13, 2009, they released their first studio album, Leave the Gambling for Vegas, which included a cover of Lady Gaga's “Bad Romance.”
Derek left the band in May 2010 to join Falling in Reverse, and A Smile from the Trenches broke up in September 2010.
In 2008, Derek became part of Falling in Reverse's original lineup while still with A Smile From The Trenches.
They could only record demos because Ronnie Radke was in prison until December 2010. In May 2010, Derek moved to Las Vegas due to his commitment to Falling In Reverse.
They had to wait for Ronnie's release in December 2010. On July 26, 2011, they released their debut album, The Drug in Me Is You, which reached No. 19 on the Billboard 200.

Their second album, Fashionably Late, came out on June 18, 2013, peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

Derek Jones was the only original member of Falling in Reverse besides Ronnie Radke and was part of every release until his passing in 2020.

In 2015, he got engaged to Christina Cetta. Unfortunately, in March 2019, Cetta was diagnosed with cancer. To help pay for her treatment, Jones started a fundraiser on GoFundMe to collect $100,000. Fans who chipped in received special shirts from the band.
Sadly, Cetta passed away on November 19, 2019, which led to the cancellation of Falling in Reverse's fall tour.
Cause of Death
On April 21, 2020, Jones himself passed away. Ronnie Radke, his bandmate, shared the news on social media. The cause of his death was later revealed as Subdural hematoma.
