Vernon Alphonsus Reid is a British-American guitarist and songwriter. He's famous for starting the rock band Living Colour. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 66th on their list of top 100 guitarists. You can also check out Juanes.
Critic Steve Huey describes Reid's diverse style, which covers heavy metal, punk, funk, R&B, and avant-garde jazz. He gained attention in the 1980s as part of drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson's band.
He made a duo album with guitarist Bill Frisell called Smash & Scatteration in 1984. In 1985, Reid co-founded the Black Rock Coalition with journalist Greg Tate and producer Konda Mason.
