During her high school breaks, she learned acting at Chicago's The Second City Improvisational Theater. After high school, she got a modeling contract in Milan, Italy. She planned to stay for just three months but ended up staying for two successful years. She fell in love with Italy. When she returned to the United States, she moved to Los Angeles and studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute.
In 1995, she joined the cast of the Showtime comedy series Sherman Oaks. Later, she played Teresa Morales in the last season of the CBS western drama Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. She replaced Michelle Bonilla. She also appeared in movies like Selena, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, and Auto Focus.
On TV, she showed up in Friends as Cookie, Joey Tribbiani's sister. She also appeared in shows like Suddenly Susan, The Hughleys, Any Day Now, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, Psych, and The Goldbergs. She performed in various Los Angeles stage productions and had a recurring role in Everybody Loves Raymond as Stefania, Robert Barone's Italian girlfriend.
