Henry James Ruggs III, born on January 24, 1999, used to play American football in the NFL for two seasons. He was in the University of Alabama's 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship-winning team. The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Ruggs in the 1st round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
In his second season, Ruggs caused a fatal car crash, leading to his release from the Raiders. On May 10, 2023, he pled guilty to DUI resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter. Ruggs received a 3 to 10-year prison sentence in Nevada.

His junior year, 2019, saw 40 catches, 7 touchdowns, and 746 yards. Ruggs also returned kicks, averaging 23.8 yards. He's third in career touchdowns for Alabama with 24.

Car Accident
On November 2, 2021, Ruggs crashed into another car in Spring Valley, Las Vegas, causing a fatal accident. Tina Tintor and her dog Max died in the crash. Ruggs faced charges for DUI resulting in death and reckless driving.
Before the crash, Ruggs and his girlfriend were seen drinking at a Topgolf in Las Vegas. They left after midnight in his Corvette nicknamed "Lizzy". At around 3:39 a.m., Ruggs lost control of his Corvette while trying to stop and hit Tintor's car at high speed. Tintor and her dog died in the flames.

Ruggs and his girlfriend were injured but not severely. After leaving the hospital, Ruggs was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He appeared in court and got bail set at $150,000.
Reports revealed Ruggs refused sobriety tests. His blood test, taken two hours after the crash, showed a blood alcohol content of 0.161%, more than double the legal limit. Ruggs' defense argued the test shouldn't be admissible due to lack of probable cause. The court ruled it as evidence.
Ruggs pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter. He was sentenced to three to ten years in prison on August 9, 2023.
The Las Vegas Raiders released Ruggs on November 2, 2021. Football players and coaches expressed condolences and support for the victims. Derek Carr offered love, Rich Bisaccia expressed condolences, and others shared thoughts and prayers.
