James Joseph Norton is a well-known American comedian, actor, author, radio personality, and television and podcast host. He has been co-hosting the podcast UFC Unfiltered with Matt Serra, as well as the morning radio show Jim Norton & Sam Roberts on SiriusXM Radio since 2016. Norton is also the host of The Chip Chipperson Podcast since 2017.

Norton gained popularity as the third mic on the radio show Opie and Anthony, along with Gregg Opie Hughes and Anthony Cumia, from 2001 to 2014. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in 1990 and honed his craft over the years. James Joseph Norton was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and grew up in North Brunswick with his sister Tracy. His mother was a librarian and his father was a former US marine and army reservist who later worked as a driver for the US postal service. Norton dropped out of North Brunswick High School in his senior year and started drinking heavily at the age of 13. He preferred vodka and grain alcohol because it got him drunk quickly and made him feel comfortable. Norton was insecure and shy, and he started cutting himself with a razor blade at the age of 16 in an attempt to get attention.

At 18, Norton went to a rehab facility in Princeton, New Jersey, where he completed a one-month course and stopped drinking. He missed his graduation from high school while he was away, but his classmates had voted him as the class clown. After being sober for around three years, Norton obtained his GED and enrolled in Middlesex County College with the goal of becoming a lawyer. However, he quit after one month and started working in a copper company operating a forklift to unload boxed tubes of copper from trucks. Norton was fired from this job at age 23, and he collected unemployment benefits while performing comedy sets at local venues. He eventually decided to pursue comedy full-time.
