In 1994, Jo Koy began his stand-up career at a Las Vegas comedy club, and eventually landed a regular spot on the show Catch a Rising Star at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, after starting with open mic nights. He even rented out the Huntridge Theater and sold tickets door-to-door for his comedy shows. Since then, he has appeared in several TV stand-up specials, including Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza!, and won the Showtime at the Apollo.
