Additionally, Jones has performed as a featured artist at major comedy festivals such as the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal and the Aspen Comedy Festival. In 2010, she presented her one-hour comedy special, Problem Child, which aired on Showtime.
Jones' most notable acting role was in the 2016 movie Ghostbusters, where she played the character Patty Tolan. Her acting abilities earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in both 2017 and 2018, for her work on Saturday Night Live.

While at Chapman, Jones worked as a disc jockey at the student radio station, KNAB, and considered pursuing a career in professional basketball overseas.
However, when her coach Brian Berger departed Chapman for the head-coaching job at Colorado State University in 1986, Jones followed him there.
At Colorado State, she initially considered studying pre-law but changed her major several times, including accounting and computer science, before ultimately deciding to focus on communications.
