Regé-Jean Page, an English-Zimbabwean actor, gained recognition for his portrayal in the Netflix period drama Bridgerton (2020), after appearing in various television series such as Waterloo Road (2015), Roots (2016), and For the People (2018–2019). Page's acting career started with his role as Tanaka in the television series Gimme 6 (2001), followed by guest appearances in British television shows including Casualty@Holby City (2005), Fresh Meat (2013), and Waterloo Road (2015). He also had roles in theatre productions of The History Boys (2013) and The Merchant of Venice (2015).
Page made his American production debut in 2016 playing Chicken George in the History Channel miniseries Roots, followed by a supporting role in the legal drama For the People (2018-2019). He also appeared in minor roles in Mortal Engines (2018) and Sylvie's Love (2020).
In 2019, Page was cast as one of the leads in Bridgerton, which was based on the Regency romance novel The Duke and I. The show received critical acclaim, and Page received an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for the role but did not return for the show's second season as he had only signed a one-series deal.
