In 2005, he independently began his career and released one extended play (EP) and four mixtapes until 2010. Yelawolf gained mainstream attention starting with his Trunk Muzik EP in 2010, which led to him signing a deal with Interscope Records. He reworked Trunk Muzik and released it as Trunk Muzik 0-60 in 2010.
In January 2011, Yelawolf signed a recording deal with Eminem's record label, Shady Records.
