1. Madoff, Mark:
In December 2011, Mark Madoff, Bernard Madoff's eldest son, hanged himself in his Manhattan apartment. The day fell on the second anniversary of Bernie Madoff's arrest for operating a Ponzi scheme that claimed the lives of thousands of people worldwide.

He is the American mafia's oldest current member. He was convicted of extorting money from Manhattan pizzerias and strip clubs in 2011 and given an eight-year sentence. Throughout the trial, the man appeared to be asleep, giving the impression that he was dying.
