Alan Michael Ritchson is an American actor, model, singer, songwriter and producer. His parents are Vickie Ritchson, a high school teacher, and David Ritchson, a retired U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant. He is the second of three boys. During his childhood, his family moved to Rantoul, Illinois, and later settled in Niceville, Florida when he was 10 years old.
He attended Niceville High School and graduated in 2001. Ritchson once obtained a full music scholarship and from 1999 to 2003, he attended Okaloosa Walton Community College, now Northwest Florida State College, graduating with an Associate of Arts degree. During his time there, he was part of the Fine Arts division's Soundsations and Madrigal Singers.
Career
Alan Ritchson started his career as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch. He gained public attention in 2004 when he appeared on American Idol as one of the top 87 contestants in the third season. Although he was cut in Hollywood, his appearance on the show, including a memorable striptease for judge Paula Abdul, made an impression.
Ritchson's television acting credits include a recurring guest star role as Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, in the series Smallville. His role as Aquaman was the first time the character appeared in an officially licensed live-action production. He reprised this role in the final season of the show.

In 2010, he played the main role of Thad Castle, the captain of a college football team, in Spike TV's Blue Mountain State. In 2018, Ritchson took on the recurring role of Hank Hall, also known as Hawk, in the DC Universe series Titans. Initially signed for two episodes, he became a series regular for the second season but was later written out of the series.
