Derek Kenneth Stepan is an American ice hockey center and is currently an unrestricted free agent. He previously played for the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, and Ottawa Senators.
Stepan attended the University of Wisconsin and signed his first pro contract with the Rangers on July 1, 2010. He scored a hat trick in his NHL debut, a historic achievement.
Before college, he played hockey at Shattuck-Saint Mary's high school, achieving impressive point scores.
Recently, he signed a one-year, $1.35 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2021, and in the 2021-22 season, he scored 9 goals and 19 points in 58 games.
