Career 

At the age of 8, Jack Gleeson began his acting career with the Independent Theatre Workshop. He played his first roles in films like Reign of Fire (2002), Batman Begins (2005), Shrooms (2007), and A Shine of Rainbows (2009), and went on to take a leading role in All Good Children in 2010, where he was praised as "the pic's big discovery" by Variety magazine.

Gleeson gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Joffrey Baratheon in the HBO series Game of Thrones, and he cited Joaquin Phoenix's performance in Gladiator (2000) as an influence on his acting. After the completion of his work on Game of Thrones, Gleeson intended to retire from acting to pursue an academic career but later changed his mind.

Throughout the 2010s, Gleeson was a member, founder, and producer of the Dublin-based Collapsing Horse Theatre Company, and appeared in their productions such as Monster/Clock and Bears in Space, which received favourable reviews and had several revival productions. The company disbanded in 2019.
