Biography
Jason Paul Taylor used to play professional football. He was a defensive end and outside linebacker in the National Football League (NFL), mostly with the Miami Dolphins.
Currently, he coaches defensive ends for the Miami Hurricanes. In his 15-year career, Taylor played for the Dolphins for 13 years (1997–2007, 2009, and 2011). He also had single seasons with the Washington Redskins (2008) and New York Jets (2010).
Before joining the NFL, Taylor played college football for the Akron Zips at the University of Akron. He got drafted by Miami in 1997 as the 13th pick in the third round.
Taylor's rookie season in 1997 earned him the Dolphins Team Newcomer of the Year award. He quickly became one of the best defensive ends and pass-rushers in NFL history. Taylor ranks 7th in the NFL's all-time career sacks list with 139.5 sacks. He also holds records for forced fumbles, fumble return touchdowns, and interceptions returned for touchdowns by a defensive lineman. He announced retirement on December 28, 2011.
Throughout his Dolphins career, Taylor won awards like the Dolphins Team MVP and Leadership Awards multiple times. He was a six-time Pro Bowl selection, four-time first or second-team All-Pro, and received several Defensive Player of the Year awards.
