Kosuke Fukudome is a retired Japanese baseball outfielder. He played in MLB from 2008 to 2012, mainly with the Chicago Cubs. Before MLB, he had a long career in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) with Chunichi Dragons and Hanshin Tigers.
Before joining MLB, Fukudome played nine seasons for Chunichi Dragons in Nippon Professional Baseball. He was on Japan's baseball team, winning medals in 1996 and 2004 Summer Olympics. He also won the Central League MVP in 2006.
In high school, scouts noticed Fukudome, potential first-round draft pick. He preferred Chunichi Dragons or Yomiuri Giants, so he joined Nihon Seimei's industrial league baseball team. In 1996, at 19, he became the youngest Olympic baseball player and won a silver medal in Atlanta.
