In 1989, Kym Whitley received a significant opportunity when she landed a leading role in Shelly Garrett's renowned play, Beauty Shop. The production premiered in Los Angeles and later toured throughout the United States. Whitley is best known for her acting roles in the sitcoms My Brother and Me and Sparks. She has also made appearances on numerous other television sitcoms, including The Parent 'Hood, Married... with Children, Moesha, That's So Raven, The Parkers, My Wife and Kids, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Additionally, Whitley hosted the short-lived BET program, Oh Drama, in 2000. Whitley played the character Suga, Craig's aunt, in the film Next Friday. She was part of a troupe known as The Adults, consisting of adult actors from the earlier seasons of All That. In early 2010, Whitley co-hosted The Brian McKnight Show with R&B musician Brian McKnight, but the program had a brief run. From 2012 to 2013, she played the recurring character Charmaine Wax on the BET comedy Let's Stay Together.
