Sherry Lea Stringfield is a well-known American actress. She gained fame for her role as Dr. Susan Lewis on the NBC medical drama ER, receiving three Emmy Award nominations.
Stringfield was part of ER's original cast but left the show during the third season, despite a five-season contract. She returned in 2001 but left once again in 2005. Additionally, she had regular roles in NYPD Blue and Guiding Light.
Stringfield's acting career primarily focused on television, although she also appeared in several films. She discovered her passion for acting while attending Klein High School, where she starred in various musicals and plays.
Later, she attended the Acting Conservatory of SUNY at Purchase, rooming with fellow actress Parker Posey.

During her time there, she participated in numerous off-Broadway productions and honed her acting skills, including refining her Texan accent with the help of a college speech teacher.
