Tracie Thoms is recognized for her role as Mahandra McGinty in the TV show Wonderfalls.
She also portrayed Sasha in the US version of As If, a TV series canceled after three episodes. In 2005, CBS added her to the cast of the crime drama Cold Case as Kat Miller, a homicide detective. Thoms guest-starred on Law & Order and The Shield.
She appeared in movies, notably the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Rent, playing Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer and lover. She took over the role from Fredi Walker, too old to reprise it. Thoms was a fan of the Broadway show.
In 2002, she featured in the Comedy Central film Porn 'n Chicken and the 2004 movies Brother to Brother and The Warrior Class. In the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, she played Lily.
