Guy Forget Biography
Guy Forget is a retired French tennis player and administrator. He helped France win the Davis Cup in 1991 and 1996 and served as France's Davis Cup team captain. He gained recognition as a junior player, winning the French Open junior title in 1982.
In 1986, he reached the fourth round of Roland Garros and won his first top-level singles title in Toulouse. Forget also had success in doubles, reaching World Number 3 in 1986. He partnered with Yannick Noah in 1987 and Jakob Hlasek in 1990 to finish as runners-up in men's doubles at the French Open and ATP Tour World Championships.
In 1991, he had a standout year, winning six singles titles, including the ATP Masters Series events in Cincinnati and Paris. He was part of the French Davis Cup-winning team that year. In 1996, he won his last career singles title in Marseille and another Davis Cup with France. Forget played Davis Cup for 12 years, retiring in 1997 with 11 top-level singles titles and 28 doubles titles.
After retiring, he became France's Davis Cup team captain and Fed Cup team captain from 1999 to 2004. He received the Philippe Chatrier Award from the ITF in 2011. He joined the directing committee of the French Open in 2011 and became director of the Masters of Paris Bercy in 2012. In 2016, he became the director of the French Open.
