Mannie Fresh, also known as Byron Otto Thomas, was born on March 20, 1969. He's a famous American music producer, DJ, and rapper. He's best known for his work with Cash Money Records and as one half of the Big Tymers duo with Birdman, the label's co-founder. Mannie Fresh produced many hit songs for Cash Money Records from 1998 to 2004 before leaving the label. He was their main producer when the label started in 1991.
In the late 1980s, he teamed up with New Orleans rapper MC Gregory D. They released their first album Throwdown in 1987, with Mannie Fresh handling the music and MC Gregory D doing the rapping. They made two more albums together in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After their last album in 1993, Mannie Fresh met Bryan Baby Williams, who gave him a chance to become the in-house producer at Cash Money Records. With Williams' help, Mannie Fresh produced hit albums for the Hot Boys, including Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk. He also worked on their solo projects.
Later, Mannie Fresh and Birdman formed the Big Tymers and released five albums together. In 2004, Mannie Fresh dropped his first solo album, The Mind of Mannie Fresh, with 30 tracks, featuring the single Real Big, which reached #79 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2005, he left Cash Money Records for financial reasons and joined Def Jam South, where he's still signed. On October 27, 2009, Mannie Fresh released his second solo album, Return of the Ballin', entirely produced by himself and featuring guests like Rick Ross and Lil Jon.
