Biography

Tiffany is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and former teen star. She's known simply as Tiffany. In 1987, her cover of the song I Think We're Alone Now by Tommy James and the Shondells reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for two weeks. It was from her first album called Tiffany.

She followed it with singles like Could've Been and a version of the Beatles' I Saw Her Standing There called I Saw Him Standing There. Surprisingly, Could've Been also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Tiffany became famous partly due to her creative The Beautiful You: Celebrating The Good Life Shopping Mall Tour '87.

Her second album, Hold an Old Friend's Hand, had a Top 10 single in 1988 but didn't match her first album's success. In the 1990s, she released New Inside in 1990 and Dreams Never Die in 1993, but neither gained much attention. In 2000, she returned with The Color of Silence. While it got some praise, it didn't become huge. Tiffany has made more albums and toured since then.

Besides music, Tiffany posed for Playboy and appeared on reality TV shows like Celebrity Fit Club. She also acted in a few horror and sci-fi films, including Necrosis (2009), Mega Piranha (2010), and Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (2011).

While singing at the Palomino Club, Tiffany was noticed by Hoyt Axton and his mother Mae Axton. Mae took her to sing in Nashville, Tennessee, where she appeared on WSMV's The Ralph Emery Show, singing Juice Newton's Queen of Hearts and Tammy Wynette's Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad.

In 1984, Tiffany signed with George Tobin after he heard her sing on a demo tape. In 1985, she appeared on Star Search with Ed McMahon, finishing second overall. In 1986, she signed a contract giving Tobin control over her career, recorded her debut album, and signed with MCA. Her first album, Tiffany, came out in 1987, but her first single, Danny, didn't do well. After that, Tobin sent Tiffany on a tour of shopping malls called The Beautiful You: Celebrating the Good Life Shopping Mall Tour '87. Her second single, a cover of Tommy James and the Shondells' hit I Think We're Alone Now, became a number-one hit.

Tiffany's song Could've Been also reached No. 1 on the charts in February 1988. Her version of the Beatles' I Saw Her Standing There, renamed I Saw Him Standing There, reached No. 7 on the Hot 100. Feelings of Forever also did well. Tiffany set a record as the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with a debut album. Later that year, she toured with New Kids on the Block as her opening act.

In 1988, Tiffany had a conflict with Tobin over control of her career and earnings. She tried to be declared an emancipated minor in court, but that didn't work. However, the judge allowed her to move out of her mother's home, and her grandmother became her temporary guardian.

In late 1988, Tiffany released her second album, Hold an Old Friend's Hand, which wasn't as successful as her first. While it didn't have any number-one hits, the song All This Time made the top 10. The album got good reviews and went platinum.

When she turned eighteen, Tiffany left Tobin's management and joined Dick Scott and Kim Glover, who managed New Kids on the Block.

Tiffany's career faced challenges in the early 1990s as music styles shifted away from her dance-pop style. Some fans found her third album, New Inside (1990), less appealing. Despite TV appearances, the album didn't do well.

In 1991, Tiffany participated in the recording of the song Voices That Care, which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
