He's famous for his double act with Bob Mortimer called Reeves & Mortimer. His humour is surreal.

Moir created the Fashionable Five, a group of five friends who enjoyed following bands like the Enid and Free on stage, performing pranks, and having fun together.
One of their pranks involved Reeves pretending to have a brass hand and imitating a Terry Scott lookalike around town. Comedian Malcolm Hardee played a role in Moir's early success.

Before becoming well-known for his comedy, Moir played bass guitar and sang in various bands with different names and musical styles. He even sold tapes of his early work in the back pages of NME magazine under the name International Cod.
Mark Lamarr, who later appeared on Shooting Stars, received a tape of Moir's band Fan Tan Tiddly Span. When Moir appeared as Vic Reeves on Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 1998, Lamarr used a sample from the song Fantasia (Side A) to tease him.
In 1983, Moir started attending a local art college, where he developed a passion for painting. He eventually convinced a local art gallery to display his work in an exhibition.
His drawings and paintings have been featured in his TV shows and were a significant part of his 1999 book, Sun Boiled Onions.
