Eddie Levert, born in Bessember, Alabama in June 1942, is a renowned American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He gained fame as the lead vocalist of the popular group, The O'Jays, which he formed with his high school buddies in 1958.
Originally known as The Triumphs and The Mascots, The O'Jays have released 29 studio albums, featuring chart-topping hits like Back Stabbers, Love Train, I Love Music (Part I), Lovin' You, For the Love of Money, and Lonely Drifter.
In recognition of their musical contributions, The O'Jays were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. They were also honoured with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
