Kurt Steven Angle, born on December 9, 1968, is a retired American professional wrestler and former collegiate wrestler. He achieved fame by winning a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympic Games. Angle is renowned for his time in WWE and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

Kurt Angle was born in Mt. Lebanon Township, Pennsylvania, to parents Jackie and David Angle. He comes from a diverse heritage, including Italian, Irish, English, German, and Lithuanian roots. Kurt had four older brothers, one of whom, Eric, was also a wrestler. Tragically, his sister Le'Anne passed away in 2003.

Angle pursued his education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, earning a degree in education in 1993. Sadly, when he was 16, his father, a crane operator, lost his life in a construction accident. Angle dedicated his career and autobiography to his father, considering his wrestling coach, David Schultz, as a father figure afterward. Tragically, Schultz was murdered in 1996.

In 2015, Angle's mother passed away from cancer.
