He gained widespread recognition as a member of the comedy music group, The Lonely Island, which he co-founded with childhood friends Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.
In addition to his musical career, Samberg worked as a writer and cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series, Saturday Night Live, from 2005 to 2012. Along with his fellow group members, he is credited with popularizing the show's Digital Shorts.
