Bill Weir, an American television journalist and anchor, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in December 1967 and graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Starting in 1991, Weir began his career at KAAL in Austin, Minnesota as a weekend sportscaster and general assignment reporter. He also worked as a sports anchor in Green Bay, Wisconsin and an anchor at the WGC Morning News in Chicago.

Weir then moved to Los Angeles, working as a sports anchor at KABC-TV and hosting Monday Night Live after Monday Night Football. He joined ABC News in 2004 and co-hosted the weekend edition of Good Morning America until 2010. During his time at ABC, Weir was the first American to broadcast live from Tibet and gave a live underwater report from the Great Barrier Reef on Earth Day 2007.

In 2010, he began co-anchoring Nightline before joining CNN in 2013 as an anchor and Chief Innovation Correspondent. Throughout his career, Weir has covered a range of significant events, including the economic rise of China and India, Hurricane Katrina, American troops in Iraq, and several launches and landings of the Space Shuttle.
